Hello all Mount Elden Estates Residents,
We are interested in contacting all residents who have emergency communications capability or would like to develop them.
In a serious emergency, you will likely lose your cell-phone capabilities because thousands of people try to communicate over limited-capacity cell towers simultaneously. If your internet is through a cell phone, that also disappears.
This is not a theoretical problem, it has happened in Arizona.
We (Phil and Bobbi Brunner) have a number of Emergency Service capabilities and will be happy to help you with communications in an emergency situation. However, we are not always here and it would be very useful to have multiple residents who could help you in an emergency.
Our emergency capabilities include:
A landline telephone (928-556-8702) - only a few of us still have them.
Battery-powered Amateur Radio (Phil - AE7OH, Bobbi - W6HQJ) on most Amateur Radio frequencies.
CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) - helps man the EOC (Emergency Operation Center) among other activities.
MARS (Military Auxiliary Radio System)
